Take Yo’ Ass to the Store!

Posted by

Each week we’re asking our favorite hip-hop personalities when exactly it was they pulled out the plastic or threw down crumpled dollar bills for an actual album. You know, those things that come in plastic cases with a little booklet that has lots of misspelled shout outs? Yeah, those things. Here’s round one, featuring Tony Yayo, Focus, Skyzoo and DV Alias Khryst.

Tony Yayo – Tony Yayo’s Thoughts of a Predicate Felon

“The shit was hot. You know what’s hot? I dropped four years ago and they’re still playing “So Seductive” in the club and I’m hot. And I’m gonna stay hot, man!”

DV Alias Khryst (MC-singer-writer extraordinaire) – Rick Ross’ Trilla

“The last album I bought was Trilla by Rick Ross. I bought this album because of “Maybach Music” featuring Jay-Z. The song was so well put-together and the album was solid and very hot! I called it the I-95 album (laughs) ’cause you could just pop it in the CD player and ride out.”

Skyzoo – Cam’ron’s Crime Pays

“Being that Cam had been low-key for a minute, the buzz and anticipation was there and everyone wanted to know what he had to say, I bought this. Cam has always carved his own lane and stayed in it, no matter what was going on around him. This album was him sticking to his guns.”

Focus – Busta Rhymes’ Back on my Bullshit

“Damn, what is the last album I bought? To be honest, I just bought the Busta Rhymes Back on my Bullshit album and I wanted to go and support him but I really don’t buy albums. I usually buy songs on iTunes.”
