Homage to the Classics: Extra Prolific – First Sermon

By JPizzle, June 12, 2009 10:30 am

I will confess that I am a bit of a Hieroglyphics Stan. They can do no wrong in my eyes. They are one of the primary reasons I love hip-hop. Extra Prolific who is no longer with the crew, may have been the least known but he was seriously dope. Originally hailing from Houston he brings a bit of a Southern drawl and a sing-song style that made him standout amongst the battle lyric heavy Hieroglyphics crew. First Sermon captures the west coast barbeque vibe perfectly with the visuals complimenting the laid back track. Barbeque and church; I can’t hate on either activity.

Homage to the Classics: Boogie Monsters – Strange

By JPizzle, June 11, 2009 11:00 am

One of the illest groups of the 90’s that you may never have heard of, Boogie Monsters were on some serious next ish! I don’t even know who or what to compare them to as they carved out their niche and sounded like no one else. From their debut album “Riders of the Storm: The Underwater Album,” Strange, is just that: Strange! Bugged out visuals for a bugged out song. Oh and Vex Da Vortex was seriously ill. He kills it hardbody steeze.
