Here is a seriously dope Alexander the Great remix of M.O.P.’s “Pounds Up” from ATG’s upcoming remix project. This is some hype shit for the morning! Also, here is the info on the remix project itself:
“On September 25th, Heroic Villain Records & So-Gnar.com will be releasing the newest FREE mixtape from producer Alexander The Great (ATG). Having worked with Kool G Rap, Big Twins & GODpt.3 from Infamous Mobb, Reks, Crooked I, Murda Mook & more, as well as getting spins on Sirius/XM radio from legendary producer DJ Premier, the buzz around this up and coming producer has grown significantly in 2009. While taking a break in the recording process for albums from Oakland rapper A1 and Brooklyn artist Steven King, ATG has teamed up with So-Gnar.com & Heroic Villain Records and are bringing all the fans a free remix project. With remixes from artists such as Kanye West, Talib Kweli, Common, AZ, Royce 5′9, Jadakiss, MOP, Inspectah Deck, Jay-Z & more, ATG has chosen to pay homage to those that inspired him to start producing and is sure to keep making noise within the industry. Attached is the first official leak from the project, “Pounds Up”, from Brooklyn rap veterans MOP. The as yet untitled mixtape will be available for free download on September 25th on SO-GNAR.COM and all major online mixtape websites. In the next two weeks, So-Gnar.com will be leaking 3 more tracks before the official release of the project.”
There’s no way you could be at work right now watching this and expect to keep your job. You know you’re gonna yap some fool before the day is out and not only would we accept that from you over here at WeGoinIN, we expect that.
Consider this redemption for the Autotune-infested “Street Life.” They didn’t even need Styles P on this one. We’re plotting on knocking off at least one 7-11 while this knocks in the Miata. Holla if you want in.
Seriously, M.O.P.’s music is better than any drug for curing pretty much anything. They can have autotune on a track and be damn sure we ain’t saying shit!
Oh and shout out to 730 who played “Ante Up” not once but TWICE at his wedding. Now that is gangsta!
M.O.P. F. Demarco “Street Life” (prod by Fizzy “Fame” Womack)
What’s this? Introspective talk about street life? No kicking down doors with the intention of robbing and/or kidnapping? We don’t need the Autotune shit here and all that, but at least Danzini and Lil’ Fame come correct in their verses.
This album has been a long time coming. With barely any new Screwball music over the past few years and more and more rappers incapable of getting the party started (not the kind with fancy bottles and tight shirts but the kind where M.O.P music is the status quo and getting hit in the face with a bottle is not only happenstance but expected). I guess you know what my bachelor party is gonna look like.
Finally, son has come around to his senses. Wait a minute, I’m not from Brooklyn. I can still say “son,” right? Never mind. Mr. Pen has come around to his senses. Magnifique. Check the email he sent me in between pies at S’barro:
“You are hilarious.”
The capital letter was in the right place and the full stop was exactly where it needed to be. Props! And just in case you missed it (I promise, I’m not doing any marketing for Pen. He’s not that organized):
And yes, Poison Pen is actually saying it’s “swagnificent.” That’s not something we would make up on our own or condone, but since it’s Poison Pen, it must be okay to say. It has to be, right?
Here’s Poison Pen’s reasoning for why you should download “Magnifique” featuring M.O.P:
“They wasn’t clamoring before, even though I did pretty good numbers. This shit is different for me. Like, a few people actually care. And this morning this wasn’t even on my iPod.”
We’re not sure if it’s on the iPod now, but it’s definitely banging, even with that whole “swagnificent” shit. And a couple other songs to put you onto game if you’ve been sleeping.
Quick sidenote – much props to Pen for blessing me with the exclusive. Pen was supposed to send me this weeks ago, but for some strange reason he would only send it via AIM. I dusted off the outdated icon on my toolbar and logged on, except Pen had stepped out to go get food handle business. That’s probably why he has a publicist sending emails out for him now.
